Choose To Be Healthy values young people as essential partners in creating positive community change. Through our youth empowerment initiatives young people work to make positive environmental and policy changes in their communities around substance abuse prevention.
CTBH Youth Leaders work on many different projects to help make Southern York County a healthier place to be. CTBH has a Facebook page, www.facebook.com/themainevoice , where youth can share their positive experiences. This is also the perfect place to help promote the fact that MOST Maine youth do not use drugs or alcohol!
We support youth opportunities for youth to be leaders and partners in prevention in their school, groups, or community. Opportunities include sending youth and adults to the Maine Youth Action Network Conference and our own Regional Training. Check out www.myan.org!
What kinds of projects do CTBH Youth work on?
CTBH Youth Leaders have worked on alcohol, marijuana, and tobacco prevention projects in their communities. In the summer of 2014 they completed Star Store tobacco assessments, Sticker Shock alcohol campaigns, and polling community members on marijuana. In 2015, they assessed stores for sales of products that can be used with marijuana and can be appealing to youth.
